Ham Hound Crave
$14.99
On this CD Paul Kaye explores the deep repertoires of prewar blues and the characters who made them, to wit, Skip James, John Hurt, Rev. Dary Davis, Mance Lipscomb, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Blake and Tampa Red. Rube Lacey of Drew, Mississippi wrote and recorded the title cut in the late 1920s, before he became a preacher. Honeyboy Edwards learned it from Rube, and In turn taught it to Paul, who carries this one and the others *intact*, from several generations ago.

Paul credits Peter Pickow, folk legend Jean Ritchie’s son, for giving him direction: Blues and Gospel, Irish and Old Time, Jazz and Rock. You name it. Paul is a master lead and rhythm guitarist, a helluva picker. He’s taught at the Old Town School for years and writes guitar arrangements for Hal Leonard on the side. He knows that stuff cold; but this is the traditional blues record he’s always wanted to make. Riverlark is proud to bring Paul out front.
